Description
I have aimed at a high degree of rigour, and have avoided any appeal to geometrical intuition. I have tried to give full explanations of fundamental ideas rather than a large number of complicated theorems, but, to the best of my knowledge, the book contains all the important theorems on functions of a complex variable needed for Honours degree courses in Mathematics. The usual proofs of a fair number of standard theorems have been revised with a view to greater clarity, accuracy, or simplicity. An asterisk at the beginning of a section or chapter indicates that the contents of that section or chapter are at present outside the normal syllabus for a first degree.
