The present volume is the third part in the same series as that published last year. Attention has already been called in the Part I to the chief Persian books of the sources of history of the Nawwabs of the Carnatic. Of these, Tuzak-i-walajahi of Burhan ibn Hasan, has been done into English and issued in two parts.1 The present volume comprises a major portion of the English translation of Sawvänihät-i-Mumtaz.2 This Persian manuscript gives us a detailed history of the reign of Ghulam Husayn ‘Umdatu’l-Umara Bahadur Nawwab Wäläjäh II (1795- 1801 A.D.)
