A Sketch-Map History Of The Great War And After 1914-1935

Author    :   Irene Richards B.A

The work of writing the book and designing the maps has provided its three authors during the past few months with exercises of absorbing interest. There is no shortage of material for study, and the problems of discounting prejudice and reconciling conflicting points of view are difficulties which the history-teacher will not find insuperable.

Description

The kind reception given to the two previous volumes of sketch-map histories of Britain and Europe up to the Great War has encouraged us to continue the story after 1914 to bring the subject-matter up to the present time. The present volume includes a few maps and notes on the causes of the War, and thus overlaps to a certain extent the preceding volumes because it seems desirable to preface the story of the War with some outline of its origins. This volume has not been divided into two sections, British and European, for it has been found impossible to treat the War campaigns of Britain apart from those of her Allies. The part played by Britain, however, has received fuller treatment.
